Back in November, 2015 I decided to close my shop after being located in the convention center four years (in Bisbee, AZ.).
Along with offering handmade, original womens clothing in my shop, I was also managing the "Windows Gallery" located in the same building.
Eric and I had spent three months, and lots of our hard earned money, time and energy creating the "Windows Gallery". It became an exciting contemporary art gallery in Bisbee, that showcased cutting edge art.
Our first art show went well showing the works of Jack Lewis and Preston Thomas. This ran from the gallery's opening night in June of 2015 thru November 2015.
Our second show entitled "Spirits of the West" opened on November 14th 2015 and it showcased the work of Ty McNeeley and Eric Kasper. Several hundred people attended the show and it was overwhelmingly well receieved. We sold five pieces of art and were congratulated by many on a successful and thought provoking exhibit.
However after receiving one complaint from a member of the public- ironically someone who called herself a friend to Eric and I- the building management suddenly had a reactionary stance on the artwork of Eric Kasper and decided that 7 pieces of his artwork had to be removed from the gallery. Ironically the individual who represented the building management spent most of the opening night speaking to Kasper and complimenting him on five of the seven pieces he wanted removed 48 hours later. Another note of irony was that the individual who acted as the "building liason" had seen all of the artwork prior to the show and had no complaints. It makes one wonder if this action was thought out prior to the opening.
I am quite happy and content now creating orders for my growing online customer base (through this website and my etsy shop) at my home studio. Now that I have closed my retail location I can focus 100% of my energy on the creative elements of design that I enjoy so much.
